Cuando llegaron en vez de rechazarlo, los indios nativos de Massachusetts les dieron una bienvenida muy calurosa y amable, les ofrecieron y les iniciaron en todos sus conocimientos sobre la agricultura, la ganadería y la caza.

Así que al pasar os meses, los peregrinos decidieron agradecerles el gesto e invitar a cenar a los indios con la cosecha que habían hecho. Ese invierno fue muy duro, y tras sobrevivir todos ellos y más la cosecha dicha celebración duró varios días en la que disfrutaron de abundantes alimentos, bebidas y diversión.

A raíz de eso cada año se reunían para dar gracias por la cosecha conseguida, con todas las familias alrededor de la mesa.
