El forense de Jefferson Parish, Gerry Cvitanovich, dice que un sospechoso que murió durante una persecución policial la semana pasada parece haber muerto estrangulado.
«Nuestros hallazgos iniciales de la autopsia revelan lesiones traumáticas significativas en el cuello», anunció el forense. «Estos hallazgos son consistentes con la asfixia por compresión».
El forense confirmó que alguien apretó, agarró o aplicó presión al cuello del sospechoso.
Él clasificó la muerte como un homicidio.
El sheriff Joe Lopinto dice que cuatro detectives de narcóticos han sido reasignados a tareas administrativas en espera de una investigación completa.
«Ellos estaban en una pelea con este caballero», dijo el sheriff a los periodistas. «Usaron la fuerza. Admitieron que usaban la fuerza».
Dijo que JPSO, la policía estatal y el FBI investigarán.
Jueves Lopinto dijo que Keeven Robinson había huido de la policía después de que intentaron arrestarlo por cargos de narcotráfico. Explicó entonces, que creía que los diputados no usaban fuerza irracional. Dijo que el sospechoso tenía asma y «dejó de respirar».
El abogado de la familia dijo a los periodistas: «Ahora es el momento … de hacer arreglos funerarios para un joven de 22 años que no debería haber muerto».

Coroner: Suspect died from ‘injuries to the neck’ during arrest
Jefferson Parish Coroner Gerry Cvitanovich says a suspect who died during a police chase last week appears to have been choked to death.
«Our initial autopsy findings reveal significant traumatic injuries to the neck,» the coroner announced. «These findings are consistent with compressional asphyxia.»
The coroner confirmed that someone squeezed, grabbed or otherwise applied pressure to the suspect’s neck.
He classified the death as a homicide.
Sheriff Joe Lopinto says four narcotics detectives have been reassigned to administrative duty pending a full investigation.
«They were in a fight with this gentleman,» the sheriff told reporters. «They used force. They admitted they used force.»
He said the JPSO, State Police and FBI will all investigate.
Thursday Lopinto said Keeven Robinson had run from police after they attempted to arrest him on drug charges. He explained then, that he believed the deputies did not use unreasonable force. He said the suspect had asthma and «stopped breathing.”
The family attorney told reporters, «Now it’s time… to make funeral arrangements for a 22-year-old that should not have died.»
