Right now we are really waiting on the rain to finish for Barry as it moves up the valley it’s putting more rain in the river, and obviously, that rain has to come down to us.
Boyett says the structure itself has to have a water level of 21 feet and that’s somewhere between 16 and 15 and a half here in New Orleans.
So when will the Spillway finally be closed?
«It’s really going to depend,» Boyett said. «The weather service hasn’t been able to take in the full accounting for the rain that’s going to be falling in the valley in the next couple of days.
That’s really going to be the determining factor. We’ll know better in a few days of what we are going to be seeing.»
