La mandataria alemana recordó, en el Día Internacional de la Mujer, que aún falta un largo camino por recorrer en cuestión de derechos
La canciller alemana, Angela Merkel, difundió hoy un mensaje de vídeo con motivo del Día Internacional de la Mujer y recordó que la lucha por la igualdad de derechos no ha terminado.
«Todavía queda mucho por hacer en nuestro país con respecto a los derechos de la mujer y a nuevas tareas para los hombres, pero sobre todo en otros países» donde a estas «les faltan los derechos básicos», señaló Merkel, vestida con una chaqueta morada y una camiseta negra.
«Por eso es el momento de decir, la lucha por la igualdad de derechos para la mujer continúa», agregó.
Merkel empezó el vídeo recordando que muchas de sus congéneres han hecho sacrificios y han luchado por la igualdad de género.
En ese contexto, recordó que hace 100 años obtuvieron el derecho a voto en Alemania, aunque, advirtió, «eso no es suficiente».
«Las mujeres queremos asumir responsabilidad en todos los campos; en las empresas, en la familia, en la política», señaló la canciller, quien apuntó que su nuevo equipo de Gobierno, que será investido la próxima semana, será «una mezcla interesante» de entre ambos géneros.
Merkel fue la primera mujer en llegar a la jefatura de uno de los dos grandes partidos alemanes, la Unión Cristianodemócrata (CDU), y también la primera en alcanzar la Cancillería, en 2005.
Su primer cargo gubernamental, durante el tercer gobierno de Helmut Kohl (1990-1994) fue el ministra de Familia y Asuntos de la Mujer.

The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, today released a video message on the occasion of International Women’s Day and recalled that the struggle for equal rights has not ended.
«There is still a lot to be done in our country with respect to the rights of women and new tasks for men, but especially in other countries» where these «lack basic rights,» said Merkel, dressed in a purple jacket and a black shirt.
«That’s why it’s time to say, the struggle for equal rights for women continues,» he added.
Merkel started the video by remembering that many of her peers have made sacrifices and fought for gender equality.
In this context, he recalled that 100 years ago they obtained the right to vote in Germany, although, he warned, «that is not enough».
«Women want to take responsibility in all fields, in companies, in the family, in politics,» said the chancellor, who said that his new government team, which will be invested next week, will be «an interesting mix» between both genders.
Merkel was the first woman to reach the leadership of one of the two major German parties, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), and also the first to reach the Foreign Ministry in 2005.
His first government office, during the third government of Helmut Kohl (1990-1994) was the Minister of Family and Women’s Affairs.
