Como si de un desastre natural se tratara, la organización de asistencia humanitaria World Central Kitchen, del chef español José Andrés, entregó hoy en pleno corazón de Washington sándwiches y sopa a decenas de empleados federales y sus familias afectados por el cierre parcial de la Administración.

World Central Kitchen, que ha brindado comida en Haití a los damnificados por el terremoto del 2010 y en Puerto Rico a los afectados por el huracán «María» en 2017, atendió este miércoles a hombres y mujeres que 26 días después de la parálisis parcial de la administración estadounidense siguen sin recibir su pago.

En traje de oficina, con uniformes de la Policía de Parques Naturales o de alguna otra entidad federal, contratistas y empleados se iban sumando poco a poco a una fila que paulatinamente empezó a crecer hasta cruzar la esquina del 701 en la tradicional avenida Pensilvania de Washington.

«Necesitamos ayuda», dijo a Efe Sam Bradley, una empleada que se quejó de que la parálisis parcial esté teniendo un impacto humano.
