La ONU pide detener acciones militares en Siria tras derribo de avión ruso

Rusia culpó hoy a Israel de haber provocado con sus ataques el derribo accidental del avión, que transportaba a 15 militares rusos, por parte de la defensa aérea siria.
Israel, mientras, defendió que el régimen de Bachar al Asad es «totalmente responsable» de lo sucedido.
De Mistura advirtió que el incidente ha creado una «preocupante escalada» de la tensión, precisamente cuando llegaban buenas noticias de Siria, con el acuerdo entre Rusia y Turquía para crear una zona desmilitarizada en la provincia de Idlib.
El enviado de la ONU dio la bienvenida a ese pacto, que por ahora ha frenado la ofensiva gubernamental contra el bastión opositor, y destacó que supone un triunfo de la diplomacia.
«Esperamos que este acuerdo sea implementado rápidamente con pleno respeto de la ley internacional humanitaria, con acceso humanitario sostenido, con respeto de la soberanía, independencia, unidad e integridad territorial de Siria y con una prioridad para el diálogo», añadió.
El secretario general de la ONU, António Guterres, también acogió con satisfacción el acuerdo y, a través de un comunicado, confió en que evite una operación militar a gran escala en Idlib y dé un respiro a millones de civiles.
Con la crisis en Idlib controlada, De Mistura defendió que es momento de avanzar en el proceso político que lidera Naciones Unidas para tratar de poner fin a la guerra.
En ese sentido, defendió la necesidad de lograr rápidamente un acuerdo sobre la composición del comité constitucional pactado para reformar la Carta Magna y aseguró que el próximo mes será «clave» para ello.

De Mistura warned that the incident has created a «disturbing escalation» of the tension, precisely when good news came from Syria, with the agreement between Russia and Turkey to create a demilitarized zone in the province of Idlib.
The UN envoy welcomed that pact, which for now has stopped the government offensive against the opposition stronghold, and stressed that it is a triumph of diplomacy.
«We hope that this agreement will be implemented quickly with full respect for international humanitarian law, with sustained humanitarian access, with respect for the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Syria and with a priority for dialogue,» he added.
The UN Secretary General, António Guterres, also welcomed the agreement and, through a statement, he hoped to avoid a large-scale military operation in Idlib and give a respite to millions of civilians.
With the crisis in controlled Idlib, De Mistura defended that it is time to move forward in the political process led by the United Nations to try to end the war.

In that sense, he defended the need to quickly reach an agreement on the composition of the constitutional committee agreed to reform the Magna Carta and ensured that next month will be «key» for it.
