La directora de Servicios Educativos de British Council, Pilar Aramayo Prudencio, señaló que de acuerdo con un estudio que realizó esta institución, en el mundo una de cada cuatro personas se comunican en inglés, lo que hace que este idioma sea el segundo hablado a nivel internacional.

«En un estudio que hizo esta institución lo que se señala es que el inglés permite, en este momento, comunicarte con una de cada cuatro personas en el mundo, es un abre puertas, una herramienta que te permite acercarte a una de cada cuatro personas en el mundo, no es poca cosa», resaltó.

En entrevista, puntualizó que este organismo autónomo de Reino Unido y que representa y ha establecido relaciones culturales, por el idioma y en educación con el gobierno británico con 120 países, entre ellos México, tiene el interés de contribuir a la enseñanza del inglés.

«El British Council tiene interés en contribuir a la mejora sistemática de la enseñanza del inglés, para que sea con calidad», indicó al explicar que este idioma es el más hablado debido a que el número de hablantes en su mayoría no son nativos de esta lengua, pues se usa para comunicarse en diversos ámbitos y sectores.

«Es innegable que el inglés es la lengua internacional de los negocios, de la diplomacia, del deporte y de la ciencia, hay una cantidad amplia de ámbitos y sectores en los que la comunicación internacional, no necesariamente entre un hablante nativo, sino de distintas lenguas, el idioma que posibilita la comunicación entre ellos es el inglés.

Añadió que sobre todo en sectores como el de la ciencia y tecnología, representa la comunicación global «y si quieres sumarte a una red importante de quienes están liderando distintos campos en ciencia, pues necesitas el inglés como instrumento fundamental».

Señaló que en el número de hablantes nativos el inglés es menor, que el español, por ejemplo, pero es justamente la fuerza que tiene este idioma para que los hablantes no nativos lo aprendan, y eso hace que sea el más hablado a nivel mundial.

El inglés es el segundo idioma que se habla a nivel mundial, después del mandarín (chino), y el español está entre los primeros cinco idiomas que se hablan en el planeta.

Comentó que según David Brown, quien hizo un estudio hace unos 15 años, señaló que el español podría popularizarse incluso más que el inglés a nivel global, pero existe una dificultad mayor para aprender español, en comparación con el inglés, como es su gramática, además de otros intereses políticos y económicos ha hecho que el español no tenga tanta fuerza.

Indicó que para el aprendizaje del inglés es muy importante dos factores un buen maestro y definir para qué se quiere aprender inglés, para que se necesita y así determinar el manejo y dominio del idioma.

Indicó que cada nivel del marco común europeo aproximadamente toma unas 200 horas de estudio, y que los niveles básicos se puede avanzar más rápido, y en el caso de la enseñanza del inglés en el nuevo modelo educativo si alcanza cada ciclo escolar para su enseñanza y aprendizaje.

En cuanto a un adulto, explicó que depende del ritmo que tenga, es decir, si estudia diario y cuántas horas dediques a la semana, pero entre seis y ocho meses es un ritmo adecuado para avanzar entre los niveles.

Finalmente, lo que resaltó fue que es mentira que en menos de tres meses cualquier persona logre aprender el idioma inglés para ser funcional.
