The ship where the goods were found sailed from the Caribbean port of Cartagena and was destined for the Dominican Republic

Colombian authorities detected a shipment of pure cocaine inside a merchant ship that sailed from the Caribbean port of Cartagena to the Dominican Republic, reported the Navy of that South American nation.

The General Maritime Directorate received «a call from the Rotterdam Express motorboat, of German flag, reporting that they were carrying out the established security protocols, for finding on board personnel other than their crew».

The National Police, Colombian Migration and the National Navy participated in the operation, which stopped the ship in a sector known as Cuatro Calles, 12 nautical miles from the Port of Cartagena, in the Colombian Caribbean.

Rapid Reaction Units of the Coast Guard Station of Cartagena and an aircraft of the National Navy escorted the motor ship.
A unit of Naval Commandos approached the Rotterdam and found in its interior 10 subjects dressed in black, who, according to the captain of the ship, entered irregularly against the Ship Protection Code and Port Facilities PBIP.

When inspecting the containers, «it was possible to locate tulas, which contained 185 rectangular packages, to which they underwent the Preliminary Initial Test – Piph -, throwing positive for 185 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride,» said the Colombian Navy.
