Asunción, 17 mar (EFE).- Organizaciones sociales anunciaron movilizaciones en apoyo al proyecto de juicio político al presidente paraguayo, Mario Abdo Benítez, y al vicepresidente, Hugo Velázquez, que está previsto sea presentado este miércoles para su estudio en Diputados por el Partido Liberal, con la gestión de la pandemia como principal causal.
Integrantes de la Coordinadora Nacional de Organizaciones campesinas e indígenas dijeron en un acto en el centro de Asunción, que las movilizaciones continuarán, incluso, si se archiva la iniciativa, ante el hecho de que el gubernamental Partido Colorado es mayoría en la Cámara Baja.
Y señalaron que esos sectores ya se están movilizado en otros puntos del interior de cara a confluir en los próximos días en Asunción para seguir exigiendo la renuncia de Abdo Benítez y de Velázquez y la convocatoria de elecciones.
Senadores del Frente Guasú, la mayor fuerza de izquierda del país, respaldaron con su presencia ese acto, frente al Panteón de los Héroes, y reincidieron en la necesidad de la salida del mandatario y del número dos del Ejecutivo.
«Nuestra exigencia, al igual que la de estos sectores, es que se vaya este Gobierno. Este Gobierno no puede continuar, está matando a la gente. La mata de hambre, la mata en los hospitales porque no hay lugar», dijo el senador y presidente del Frente Guasu, Carlos Filizzola.
«La cabeza de este Gobierno no funciona, el modelo no funciona. Hay que sacar a Abdo, hay que sacar a Velázquez y se tiene que llamar a elecciones inmediatamente, algo previsto en la Constitución, de tal manera a elegir no solo personas, sino también un nuevo modelo», agregó.
El senador incidió en las críticas de la oposición al mandatario ante su manejo de la pandemia, que ha expuesto la precariedad de la red sanitaria pública, así como a la demora en la llegada de las vacunas.
«Este Gobierno ya ha demostrado corrupción e ineptitud. Es un Gobierno corrupto e inepto con el que no vamos a salir. Al contrario, se muere más gente por hambre, por la situación malisima de la economía y ni que decir de la situación sanitaria. Y lo peor del caso, somos el único país de la región que no tenemos ni vacunas», dijo.
SIN VOTOS EN DIPUTADOS
La iniciativa liberal de juicio político, prevista que se tramite hoy en mesa de entrada, deberá ser estudiada en comisiones antes de pasar a sesión, donde sería archivada o aprobada.
El bloque liberal suma 29 escaños en la Cámara Baja, donde se requieren 53 votos para que el proceso sea juzgado en el Senado, en el que también hacen falta dos tercios de 45 miembros para la caída del Gobierno.
A esos votos liberales podrían unirse los de la minoría opositora para totalizar 37, por lo que necesitarán que al menos 16 diputados del Partido Colorado se sumen a la iniciativa.
En ese sentido, dependería de la actitud del grupo oficialista que es mayoría en Diputados, el que responde al expresidente Horacio Cartes (2013-2018), que de momento ha mostrado su apoyo al sector colorado que lidera Abdo Benítez.
La iniciativa de juicio surgió en medio de las protestas ciudadanas en Asunción para denunciar la escasez de medicinas para pacientes de Covid, el colapso de los hospitales y casos de corrupción en el manejo de las compras de insumos para enfrentar a la pandemia, así como la demora de las vacunas.
Hasta el momento han llegado al país unas 27.000, en su mayoría donadas por Chile, destinadas al personal de blanco.
Abdo Benítez anunció anoche la llegada para este viernes de la primera remesa de vacunas procedente del mecanismo Covax, 36.000 dosis que son parte de los cerca de 4,3 millones que se habían gestionado con esa plataforma.
Antes el mandatario expuso la insatisfacción del Ejecutivo, durante la VI Reunión Extraordinaria de Presidentes del Prosur que se celebró de forma virtual, ante la respuesta de ese mecanismo pese a que el Paraguay pagó en octubre el total de esas partidas.
El país suma 3.554 muertes y 183.348 contagios, en un escenario de alerta roja sanitaria ante el aumento de casos.

Senators of the Frente Guasú, the largest leftist force in the country, supported with their presence this act, in front of the Pantheon of Heroes, and reiterated the need for the departure of the president and the number two of the Executive.
«Our demand, as well as that of these sectors, is for this government to leave. This government cannot continue, it is killing the people. It is killing them with hunger, it is killing them in the hospitals because there is no room», said the senator and president of Frente Guasu, Carlos Filizzola.
«The head of this government does not work, the model does not work. Abdo must be removed, Velázquez must be removed and elections must be called immediately, something foreseen in the Constitution, so as to elect not only people, but also a new model», he added.
The senator stressed the opposition’s criticism of the president’s handling of the pandemic, which has exposed the precariousness of the public health network, as well as the delay in the arrival of vaccines.
«This government has already demonstrated corruption and ineptitude. It is a corrupt and inept government with which we are not going to get out. On the contrary, more people are dying of hunger, because of the very bad situation of the economy and not to mention the health situation. And worst of all, we are the only country in the region that does not even have vaccines», he said.
NO VOTES IN DEPUTIES
The liberal initiative for impeachment, scheduled to be processed today at the front desk, will have to be studied in commissions before passing to the session, where it would be filed or approved.
