Caracas, 15 oct (EFE).- La Conferencia Episcopal de Venezuela (CEV) criticó este jueves al Gobierno de Nicolás Maduro y a la oposición por la severa crisis que atraviesa el país, al considerar que ningún bando político ha aliviado el sufrimiento de los ciudadanos, cada vez más agobiados por la pobreza extrema.

«Tanto el oficialismo como la oposición no presentan un proyecto de país que logre reunir y convencer la voluntad mayoritaria del pueblo de Venezuela de vivir en justicia, libertad y paz», dice la exhortación pastoral emitida luego de dos días de reuniones virtuales entre los religiosos.

Aunque el escrito es mucho más duro contra el Ejecutivo, no deja de mencionar que los sectores de oposición «se muestran divididos y sin presentar una alternativa verdadera de cambio».

«Venezuela reclama a gritos un cambio de actitud en toda la dirigencia política», consideran.

La Iglesia católica venezolana, tradicionalmente contraria a la llamada revolución bolivariana, señala en este pronunciamiento que la Administración de Maduro «ha demostrado su incapacidad para dar respuesta a los grandes problemas nacionales y sus actuaciones tienden a agravarlos».

«Parece que su único objetivo es permanecer en el poder sin importar cuanto sufrimiento traiga eso al pueblo venezolano», reza el texto en el que denuncian la «represión de cuerpos policiales y militares» a los ciudadanos que han protestado en las últimas semanas por hambre y por fallos en todos los servicios públicos.

La CEV se refiere también a los ciudadanos que están abandonando Venezuela en medio de la pandemia por covid-19, de los cuales algunos de ellos, «vendiendo sus pocas pertenencias, emprenden largas caminatas desde diversas regiones del país».

«Empeora su situación el maltrato de las autoridades militares y policiales, quienes a lo largo del camino les requisan y les arrebatan sus pertenencias y el dinero que llevan», dicen los obispos, una denuncia que recientemente contaron varios emigrantes a Efe.

Por lo anterior, la Conferencia considera que todos los informes sobre derechos humanos que se han publicado en los últimos años y que son críticos con el Gobierno de Maduro «se han quedado cortos en referencia a la realidad que se vive en el país».

Además, los obispos creen que las elecciones legislativas previstas para el 6 de diciembre, en las que no participará el grueso de la oposición por considerarlas fraudulentas, «lejos de contribuir a la solución democrática de la situación política que hoy vivimos, tiende a agravarla».

«Es inmoral realizar elecciones cuando el pueblo sufre las consecuencias de la pandemia, carece de las condiciones mínimas para su subsistencia, y no existe transparencia en las reglas y mecanismos de verificación que deben regir un proceso electoral», agrega el escrito.
Caracas, 15 Oct (EFE)- The Episcopal Conference of Venezuela (CEV) on Thursday criticized the Government of Nicolás Maduro and the opposition for the severe crisis that goes through the country, considering that no political side has alleviated the suffering of citizens, increasingly burdened by extreme poverty.

«Both officialism and the opposition do not present a country project that manages to gather and convince the majority will of the people of Venezuela to live in justice, freedom and peace,» says the pastoral exhortation issued after two days of virtual meetings between the religious.

Although the writing is much harsher against the Executive, it never ceases to mention that opposition sectors «are divided and without presenting a true alternative to change.»

«Venezuela is crying out for a change of attitude throughout political leadership,» they see.

The Venezuelan Catholic Church, traditionally contrary to the so-called Bolivarian revolution, notes in this pronouncement that the Maduro Administration «has demonstrated its inability to respond to major national problems and its actions tend to aggravate them.»

«It seems that their only goal is to remain in power no matter how much suffering that brings to the Venezuelan people,» reads the text in which they denounce the «repression of police and military forces» to citizens who have protested in recent weeks for hunger and failures in all public services.

The CEV also refers to citizens who are leaving Venezuela amid the covid-19 pandemic, some of whom, «selling their few belongings, undertake long walks from various regions of the country».

«The mistreatment of the military and police authorities, who along the way requisition them and take away their belongings and the money they carry, a complaint recently told efe by the bishops, worsens their situation.

The Conference therefore considers that all human rights reports that have been published in recent years and are critical of the Maduro Government «have fallen short of the reality in the country».

In addition, bishops believe that legislative elections scheduled for December 6, in which the bulk of the opposition will not participate as fraudulent, «far from contributing to the democratic solution of the political situation we are living in today, tends to aggravate it.»

«It is immoral to make elections when the people suffer the consequences of the pandemic, lack the minimum conditions for their livelihood, and there is no transparency in the rules and verification mechanisms that should govern an electoral process,» adds the letter.
