El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, defendió ante la ONU su idea de destruir a Corea del Norte si no cesa sus ejercicios nucleares.

«Estados Unidos tiene mucha fuerza y paciencia, pero si se ve forzado a defenderse y a sus aliados, no tendremos otra opción más que destruir totalmente a Corea del Norte», dijo ante el asombro de los representantes de 130 países en Nueva York.

Trump no paró ahí, sino que hizo gala de sus habilidades diplomáticas y se refirió a Kim Jong-Un como «Rocket man» (hombre cohete).

«Rocket man está en una misión suicida para él mismo y para su régimen. Estados Unidos está listo y dispuesto, pero esperemos que esto no sea necesario», advirtió.

«Para eso están las Naciones Unidades, veamos cómo lo hacen; es tiempo de que Corea del Norte se dé cuenta de que la desnuclearización es su único futuro aceptable», indicó, e insistió en que las pruebas nucleares y de misiles balísticos de Corea del Norte «amenazan al mundo entero», al pedir unidad para aislar al régimen de Pyongyang.

Según Trump, a ninguna nación del planeta le interesa que el régimen de Pyongyang, al que acusó de «matar de hambre» a millones de norcoreanos, pueda tener a su alcance armas nucleares.

Trump también agradeció a China y Rusia por haber votado a favor de sanciones contra Corea del Norte en el Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU, aunque anotó que hay que hacer «mucho más» frente a las amenazas de Pyongyang.

A raíz de los últimos ensayos nucleares y lanzamientos de misiles de Pyongyang, Trump ha dicho que no descarta recurrir a la «opción militar».

Durante su debut en la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas, el mandatario advirtió que los llamados Estados «paria» representan una amenaza a la estabilidad de todo el mundo.

«Regímenes paria representados en este cuerpo, no solo apoyan el terror sino que además amenazan a otras naciones y a su propia gente con las más destructivas armas conocidas por la humanidad», dijo Trump, en referencia a Corea del Norte.

Así, Trump defendió su principio de «Estados Unidos primero», y dijo que todos los líderes del mundo deberían seguirlo y pensar también en sus propios intereses, aunque sin abandonar la cooperación en ciertos temas.

Por otra parte, destacó los logros de sus primeros meses de mandato y subrayó: «Vivimos en un tiempo de extraordinaria oportunidad».

A Estados Unidos «le ha ido muy bien desde el día de las elecciones», comentó Trump al comienzo de su intervención al mencionar, entre otras cosas, los récords en la bolsa y el desempleo en su menor nivel en 16 años.

Not more options but to destroy North Korea: Trump
