En las fotografías, captadas por la empresa estadounidense Planet y proporcionadas a Efe por el Instituto de Estudios Internacionales de Middlebury (Monterey, California), se aprecia que al menos cinco instalaciones sufrieron daños por el ataque a esa base, situada en la provincia iraquí de Al Anbar, en el oeste del país.
Por el momento, el Pentágono no ha publicado fotografías de los daños en las dos bases en Iraq atacadas el martes por la noche por Teherán con más de una decena de misiles balísticos: la de Al Asad y la de Erbil, esta última situada en la región autónoma del Kurdistán iraquí.

El experto del Instituto de Estudios Internacionales de Middlebury, David Schmerler, explicó a la emisora pública de radio estadounidense, NPR, que los edificios afectados por el ataque «parece que eran usados para almacenar aviones».
«Hay otras estructuras de la base área que serían exclusivas para personas por lo puede que (los iraníes) intentaron golpear sitios con equipamiento más que con personas», opinó el experto.
En un discurso a la nación, el presidente estadounidense, Donald Trump, aseguró hoy que no hubo «bajas mortales» y que el daño material fue «mínimo» en los ataques con misiles balísticos contra esas dos bases en territorio iraquí.
