NUEVA YORK, ESTADOS UNIDOS.- Miles de manifestantes y un fuerte dispositivo de seguridad están listos para recibir al presidente Donald Trump a su regreso a la ciudad de Nueva York por primera vez desde su juramentación.

Los manifestantes se agruparon el lunes en las zonas que la policía delimitó frente a la Torre Trump, horas antes de la llegada del mandatario.

En una manzana cercana hay una figura inflable caricaturesca de Trump.
La policía ha colocado camiones llenos de arena como barrera alrededor del rascacielos, y varios retenes policiacos cerca de la entrada.

Entre los manifestantes está la reverenda Jan Powell, ministra retirada de la Iglesia Unida de Cristo. Dice que está molesta por la respuesta del mandatario republicano al mitin que organizaron supremacistas blancos el fin de semana en Virginia y que derivó en hechos violentos.

Inicialmente, Trump culpó a “muchos bandos” por la violencia. El lunes dijo que “el racismo es un flagelo”.

She says she is upset over the Republican president’s response to the rally organized by white supremacists over the weekend in Virginia, which resulted in violent acts.
