Una pirámide construida por el faraón Sneferu, fundador de la cuarta dinastía de los faraones de Egipto, y otra vecina, están accesibles al público por primera vez desde 1965, anunció en un comunicado el ministro de Antigüedades, Jaled al Anani
.
«Durante las excavaciones arqueológicas en Dahshur, se descubrieron sarcófagos en piedra, arcilla y madera, algunos de los cuales tienen momias en buen estado», agregó el ministro.
En el sitio de Dahshur, a una hora por carretera de El Cairo, sobre la margen occidental del río Nilo, se encuentran varias pirámides.
Un antiguo muro, de 60 metros de largo, al sur de una de las pirámides, la del faraón Amenemhat II, también fue develado, según el ministro.

Cerca de allí, las excavaciones también sacaron a la luz máscaras funerarias y herramientas para tallar piedras, que datan de la época del Bajo Egipto, del 750 al 332 a.C.
Desde hace varios años, las autoridades de Egipto anuncian regularmente descubrimientos arqueológicos, con el fin de relanzar el turismo, afectado por la inestabilidad política y los atentados registrados tras la revolución egipcia de 2011. El sector registró cierta mejoría en 2018.

A pyramid built by pharaoh Sneferu, founder of the fourth dynasty of the pharaohs of Egypt, and another neighbor, are accessible to the public for the first time since 1965, announced in a statement the Minister of Antiquities, Khaled al Anani.
«During the archaeological excavations in Dahshur, sarcophagi were discovered in stone, clay and wood, some of which have mummies in good condition,» the minister added.
At the site of Dahshur, an hour’s drive from Cairo, on the western bank of the Nile, are several pyramids.
An ancient wall, 60 meters long, south of one of the pyramids, that of pharaoh Amenemhat II, was also unveiled, according to the minister.

Nearby, the excavations also brought to light funerary masks and tools for carving stones, dating from the time of Lower Egypt, from 750 to 332 a.C.
