«Una vigorosa ola tropical ubicada a unas 200 millas al este de las Islas de Sotavento está produciendo una gran área de clima perturbado en gran parte del Océano Atlántico tropical occidental», dijo el Centro Nacional de Huracanes en un aviso. «Se pronostica que la perturbación se moverá de oeste a oeste-noroeste hacia las siguientes
días, pasando cerca o al norte de las Islas de Sotavento, Puerto Rico, La Española y el sureste de las Bahamas «.

Los pronosticadores federales le dan al sistema una probabilidad del 90 por ciento de desarrollo. El siguiente nombre de tormenta tropical es Patty.

¿Deberíamos preocuparnos en Louisiana?

«Realmente no tenemos que preocuparnos por esto … en Louisiana», dijo la meteoróloga de WWL TV Alexandra Cranford. «Tenemos un frente frío fuerte moviéndose».

Ella dice que se espera que el sistema se desvíe hacia el norte y no entre en el Golfo de México.

November tropical storm?

It may be almost Thanksgiving, but we are watching an area of disturbed weather in the tropics.

«A vigorous tropical wave located about 200 miles east of the Leeward Islands is producing a large area of disturbed weather over much of the western tropical Atlantic Ocean,» the National Hurricane Center said in an advisory. «The disturbance is forecast to move westward to west-northwestward for the next few
days, passing near or north of the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, and the southeastern Bahamas.»

Federal forecasters give the system a 90 percent chance of development. The next tropical storm name is Patty.

Should we be concerned in Louisiana?

«We really don’t have to worry about this… in Louisiana,» WWL TV Meteorologist Alexandra Cranford said. «We have a strong cold front moving in.»

She says the system is expected to curve north and not get into the Gulf of Mexico.

Cranford reminds us, however, that Hurricane Season runs through the end of November.

Thanksgiving is next week.
